About the Role:
We are seeking an ambitious Corporate Solicitor Head of Corporate Department to take full ownership of a high-performing corporate practice. This is a rare opportunity to lead, rebuild, and grow a corporate team with autonomy, managing a substantial caseload and driving the departments expansion.
As Corporate Solicitor Head of Corporate Department, you will handle complex corporate transactions including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), joint ventures, corporate governance, PSC/ROA filings, and advising on corporate structures, including offshore entities. You will inherit existing work, manage transactional matters independently, and recruit junior support as the department grows.
Key Responsibilities:
Run the corporate department independently, taking ownership of all processes and files.
Lead, recruit, and build a small corporate team (junior solicitor or paralegal support).
Manage complex corporate transactions, including M&A, joint ventures, corporate restructuring, and offshore matters.
Provide legal opinions and strategic advice on corporate governance and structures.
Drive business development through networking and relationship-building, growing the department organically.
Act autonomously with minimal supervision, ensuring client satisfaction and quality service.
Candidate Profile:
7+ years PQE in corporate law, with strong transactional expertise.
Proven experience in M&A, joint ventures, corporate structures, and advisory work.
Comfortable with offshore structures (e.g., Channel Islands) and complex corporate matters.
Strong leadership potential with tenacity to grow and develop a department.
Proactive business development skills and ability to build client relationships.
Adaptable, collaborative, and culturally aligned with a friendly, open-plan team environment.
Experience from a reputable boutique, mid-sized, or larger commercial firm preferred; prior exposure to high-net-worth clients advantageous.
Ability to start full-time in-office for onboarding (approx. six weeks), then hybrid thereafter.
