Aspire People are seeking a dedicated and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to work in an outstanding primary school with children who have ASD. This is a challenging yet rewarding role, ideal for candidates who are experienced in working with young people with SEN and have a passion for making a positive impact on SEN children.
About The Role
You will be supporting them throughout their school day in a mainstream setting, helping them to manage their emotions and behaviour, and encouraging positive engagement in learning.
Your Key Responsibilities Will Include
* Supporting children with ASD, some non-verbal, some with behavioural challenges and emotional struggles.
* Working closely with the school's SENCo to discuss challenges, and monitor progress
* Supporting children both academically and socially to help them feel included and engaged with other children
* Building positive, trusting relationships with children to support their personal development and wellbeing
Requirements
* Previous experience working in a UK school
* Previous experience working in a SEND role or with SEN children
* A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to managing challenging behaviour
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
* A proactive and resilient attitude towards supporting children with complex needs
