Overview

Job Overview Our operating theatres are recruiting for Band 2 experienced perioperative care support workers. We would like you to join us in delivering the highest standards of care in a well-equipped, safe environment with Our ‘Right Care’ behaviours of compassion, a commitment to quality of care and working together for patients as a priority. Our specialties include Ophthalmology, General Surgery, ENT, Gynecology, Urology, Maxilla-facial, elective Orthopedics, Acutes & trauma, Obstetrics and Post Anaesthetic Care Unit.

You may already have experience in this role. We require staff to cover a 24 hour service over a 7 day period.


Main duties of the job

To undertake a range of duties including clerical and patient care activities under the direct supervision of a Registered Practitioner ODP, Nurse or a Senior Perioperative Care Assistant. Theatre Support staff will assist the Registered Practitioners to deliver patient care and prepare the environment in which care is delivered. In pursuing these duties, the post holder will ensure compliance with the NHS Constitution and be familiar with the NHS England Guidance ‘Understanding the new NHS’.

This position is not currently eligible for a certificate of sponsorship in line with Home Office guidance as it does not appear on the skilled worker visa occupation list. If you currently hold a different type of visa allowing you to work in the UK we would welcome an application from you. If your visa expires or there is a change in status during your employment, the Trust will be required to review your employment which may result in the termination of your employment to comply with the relevant immigration legislation.

Skills

Essential criteria

* Good communication skills, including observation, listening & reaction as required.verbal & IT
* Ability to work as an active member of the multi-disciplinary team

Desirable criteria

* Skills in Infection Prevention and Control
* Skills in patient safety
* Skills in manually handling people

Qualifications

Essential criteria

* General education, numerate and literate to Functional skills Level 2, A-C or equivalent GCSE

Desirable criteria

* BTEC Health & Social studies
* The Care Certificate
* QCF Level 2 / 3 Heath Diploma or equivalent

Experience

Essential criteria

* Experience of working in a team which can be transferred into the theatre teamwork
* Previous experience of working with the public with transferable skills to work with theatre patients.

Desirable criteria

* Health care experience
* Previous experience of working in the operating theatre

Knowledge

Essential Criteria

* A Comprehensive understanding of working in the Operating Theatre
* Understanding of the NHS Constitution and its implications

Desirable criteria

* Knowledge of IT systems, Electronic patient records Trisoft, Health Edge
