Maintenance Assistant
Main location: Cherwell Hospital, Banbury
Additional location: Blakelands Hospital, Milton Keynes
Hours: Full-time, 37.5 hours per week
Shift Patterns: Flexible for 7am-3pm or 8am-4pm

The role:
We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Maintenance Assistant to join the team at Cherwell Hospital in Banbury. You will play a vital role in creating a safe, well-maintained environment for all patients and staff.

You will assist with maintaining ageing of building, general maintenance around site. You’ll be working alongside the hospital engineer to maintain, repair and service all hospital equipment and facilities to a high standard.

You’ll be valued for your skills/expertise and if you’re eager to learn, we can support you through our Ramsay Academy for progression/development within this role.

There will be occasional shifts at Blakelands Hospital in Milton Keynes, and we are flexible with shift patterns in accordance with the business needs of the service.

Key Responsibilities:
Responding to departmental maintenance requests in all areas of the hospital in a timely manner

Managing maintenance folder to log, plan and complete job requests in a timely manner

Proactively identify areas and items in need of repair in a timely manner

Basic plumbing tasks: repair baths, showers, sinks and toilets, fix minor leaks and unblock sinks, fixing radiators

Basic carpentry jobs including replacing door locks, hanging shelves and pictures.

Changing light bulbs and minor electrical work

Basic decorating jobs: touching up paintwork, filing wall defects

Moving of furniture and equipment

Required Skills & Experience:
Clean, valid driving license

General maintenance knowledge and experience

Good understanding of Health and Safety procedures and best practice

Good fault-finding skills

Ability to work as part of a team and independently

Good communication skills
