We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced and strategic leader to join our Senior Leadership Team as Depute Head Teacher at Davidson's Mains Primary School until the end of December. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic individual to help shape and drive forward our school's vision, with a particular focus on leadership of learning and targeted support at Second Level, and strong oversight of Primary 7 transition. Davidson's Mains Primary is a non-denominational school situated within the Royal High School catchment area in the north west of Edinburgh.
The staff consists of a Head Teacher, two Depute Head Teachers, a Principal Teacher, 22 class teachers, 2 part time Additional Support for Learning Teachers and a part-time Specialist Teacher of PE and instructors of violin, cello and brass. In the nursery there are 2 Senior Early Years Officers, 4 Early Years Officers, 12 Early Years Practitioners, 5 Early Years Assistants, 2 Early Years Domestics and a part-time administrator. Our support staff includes a Business Manager, School Administrator, Clerical Assistant, Facilities Officer, P1 Early Years Practitioner and 16 Pupil Support Assistants.
A brand new nursery was opened in August and provides hours all year places .A further new building providing additional classrooms was opened in. In the main building there is a large double-sized gym hall, used for lunches, assemblies and PE, a Library, a Nurture space, music room and additional GP space. For next session the school roll for Primary 1-7 classes is and they will be formed into 17 classes.
Strong links have been established with The Royal High Cluster group of schools. The school has an active PSA and a supportive Parent Council. Children take part in a wide range of sporting and creative activities after school, led by Active Schools Coaches and staff.
This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.
Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
