Specialist Occupational Therapist (Band 6)

Moray H&SCP - Dr Gray's Hospital, Elgin

37 hours per week (Full-time) - Permanent

Have you ever wanted to work as an Occupational Therapist assessing people in an acute setting and then having the opportunity to complete their initial assessment at home, having the best of both worlds of inpatient and community working? If so, this may be the post for you!

As a result of service redesign and the success of our Moray Discharge to Assess team (D2A) working alongside our inpatient team we are looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist to work across our acute hospital and community pathways. Dr Gray’s Hospital is a busy district general hospital where you will be assessing patients across multiple specialities including, surgical, medical, care of the elderly and Stroke. The post holder will assess patients on the wards, follow them home for their initial assessment, and identify rehabilitation goals. This is a unique position and the first of its kind in Grampian and as such, you will be integral to its evaluation and further development. You will be joining two well-established and supportive teams who all share the same ethos of assessing patients at the right time in the right place.

You will be able to demonstrate effective evidenced based care to optimise patient occupational performance and to promote safe and timely discharge from hospital. You will have excellent communication skills as well as strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills and an understanding of service development.

The Moray Occupational Therapy Team is a well-established team with robust supervision, mentoring, quality review and audit frameworks and we strive to provide an excellent service to our patients. We also have close working relationships with our AHP and multidisciplinary colleagues in Moray and across NHS Grampian as well as national links.

We are supportive of a good work/life balance. NHS Scotland has reduced their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 and from 1April 2026 this will reduce again to a 36 hours but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours.

Moray is an extraordinarily beautiful place to live and work, take a look at the links below.
