Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Care

The Opportunity
Our client is seeking an experienced Registered Manager to lead the opening and ongoing operation of a brand-new 4-bed therapeutic children’s home in Dewsbury.
This role offers the chance to take ownership from the start and shape its culture, systems, and practice from the ground up. You’ll be responsible for establishing a safe, nurturing environment where children feel valued and supported, while ensuring the home operates to the highest standards of care and compliance.
As Registered Manager, you will be the operational lead of the home, accountable for safeguarding, regulatory compliance, and the delivery of high-quality, trauma-informed care. You’ll also be key in building a resilient, motivated team and ensuring excellent outcomes for children.

Key Responsibilities:
5. Register as the OFSTED-Registered Manager and ensure full compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations and Quality Standards.
6. Oversee the full setup and ongoing running of a new 4-bed home, embedding therapeutic and trauma-informed approaches.
7. Lead recruitment, training, and professional development for your team.
8. Ensure robust safeguarding processes and a strong culture of accountability.
9. Manage budgets, rotas, and resources effectively to deliver safe, sustainable operations.
10. Develop care planning and quality assurance systems that deliver measurable impact.
11. Build positive partnerships with local authorities, commissioners, and inspectors.
12. Participate in the organisational senior management on-call rota.
Candidate Profile
Essential:
13. Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
14. Minimum 2 years’ management experience in a children’s residential setting.
15. Strong understanding of safeguarding, OFSTED standards, and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
16. Experience of managing teams and delivering consistently high standards of care.
17. Confident in financial and resource management.
Desirable:
18. Level 7 qualification in Strategic Leadership (e.g. MBA, CMI Award).
19. Training in therapeutic models such as PACE, TCI, or Trauma Recovery Model.
20. Previous experience leading an OFSTED-rated Good or Outstanding service.
