Role Overview
The Safety Case Engineer at GE Power Conversion UK will develop and maintain safety cases for full-scale surface ship and submarine power and propulsion systems in a shore-based test environment at our Marine Power Test Facility in Whetstone (Leicester). This role involves ensuring safety and compliance across project lifecycle stages, working within GE safety standards and defense safety regulations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Lead safety and environmental committees with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to facilitate hazard identification, risk assessment, and safety case delivery.
2. Develop safety requirements, verification, and validation evidence in collaboration with engineering teams, EHS, and clients.
3. Support hazard identification, Hazop reviews, FMEA, and fault tree analysis; maintain hazard logs and documentation.
4. Participate in design reviews, present safety outcomes to stakeholders, and support safety-related decision-making.
5. Develop environmental and risk assessments aligned with regulatory, sustainability, and safety standards.
6. Provide expertise on risk assessments, method statements, incident analysis, and safety procedures.
7. Conduct safety audits and inspections, liaise with clients and suppliers, and support safety improvements.
Qualifications
* HND/Degree or higher in Electrical Power, Electronics, Mechanical, or Control Systems Engineering.
* Experience with safety case production, hazard assessments, and working within DEF STAN 00-56 standards.
* Proficiency with hazard management tools like Cassandra or similar.
* Strong attention to detail, communication skills, and safety awareness.
* UK citizenship, valid passport, ability to attain SC clearance, UK driving license.
