Purpose of the Role
The Junior Production Manager on EastEnders offers an opportunity to enhance production skills and advance a career. Candidates should have experience as a First Assistant Director, Second Assistant Director, or Production Coordinator in soap operas and understand the dynamics of a multi-team, multi-unit, multi-camera drama set‑up. They will work alongside experienced Production Managers to manage schedule, cast and crew, collaborate with directors and producers, support creative ambition, and safeguard the budget and schedule.
Key Responsibilities and Impact
* Oversee preparation, crewing, and shooting for assigned blocks.
* Ensure projects meet financial and timeline targets while maintaining creative quality through effective planning and monitoring.
* Maintain a safe working environment and advise on relevant legislation and policies affecting production.
* Act as point of contact for crew and cast queries, escalating concerns and collaborating with Directors and Producers to align creative vision with operational constraints.
* Source suppliers, negotiate contracts for specialised services, and champion efficiency, diversity, and inclusion.
Junior Production Manager Talent Pool
This talent pool offers a pathway for individuals aspiring to become Junior Production Managers. Selected candidates must be based at BBC Elstree, London, or live within commuting distance for the duration of the contract. Relocation or travel expenses are not covered. The pool may be considered for direct hiring or for expressions of interest when suitable opportunities arise.
Essential Criteria
* Proven experience as a 1st Assistant Director, 2nd Assistant Director, or Production Coordinator on a continuing drama, with strong knowledge of multi-team, multi-unit, and multi-camera setups.
* Demonstrable understanding of managing schedules and budgets using tools such as Excel and Movie Magic.
* Understanding of end-to-end multi-platform production processes and experience monitoring health and safety compliance.
* Experience in managing production team elements, resolving issues through difficult conversations, and providing constructive feedback to maintain performance standards and a positive, inclusive culture.
* Exceptional ability to handle conflicting demands under tight deadlines, combined with a passion for drama, especially EastEnders.
