About the Job
Reporting to the Company Accountant the Assistant Accountant will be responsible for assisting with and completing the following duties
Key responsibilities
* Managing all transactions within the finance department
* Ensure all weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly procedures are carried out effectively and efficiently
* Maintenance of both sales and purchase ledger
* Assist with payroll processing
* Responsible for collation, posting and reconciliation of month end stocks
* Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
* Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow up issues
* VAT submissions, Intrastat, TSS compliance and other government returns
* Assist with cashflow management
* Assist with the maintaining of the cost system on Sage
* Monitor financial controls and implement changes where necessary
* Work with external auditors at year end
* Support Finance Manager, General Manager and wider management team in relation to accounts and reports they may need
* Support accounts team and assist with ad hoc duties as required
Previous experience
* Previous experience working in a busy office environment
* Hold an Accounts Technician Qualification or Trainee/ Part Qualified Accountant (ACCA or CIMA)
