We have an exciting opportunity for a RICS Commercial Surveyor, ideally with post qualification experience, to join our Commercial Valuations team based in Cambridge. Due to the nature of the role, we encourage applications from recently qualified to Associate level. We are open to candidates with a specialist background as well as general commercial valuers. The post will suit someone looking for a new career challenge and with the desire to build client relations while ensuring the delivery of excellent service to all our clients.
Our Cambridge based valuations team cover Cambridge and the surrounding areas and value within most sectors. You will be based in our flagship Cambridge office a minimum of 2 days per week. You will work alongside our thriving teams in the planning and development and rural divisions. Responsibilities
* Work within the existing valuation team in Cambridge, providing valuations for loan security (vacant possession and investment), internal decision making purposes, tax and financial reporting purposes.
* Carry out inspections, calculating floor and site areas, comparable research, demographic and economic research, planning and statutory enquiries, company trading analysis, lease reading and summarising, development / option agreement reading and reviewing, preparation of valuations / development appraisals.
* Contribution to the growth of the business by identifying new business opportunities for the valuation team across the Eastern region.
* Assist in the delivery of major projects including asset valuations for public sector and educational clients.
* Delivery of valuation reports in accordance with client instructions and RICS Valuation Standards.
* Participation in the ongoing development and implementation of an effective profit centre business plan developed in-line with the Carter Jonas vision.
* Take an active role in the development and implementation of efficient, ‘best practice’ internal systems and processes, optimising IT and other resources.
* Help secure your own pipeline work; re‑engage business that has been lost to commercial loss.

What will it take to be successful?
You will be a qualified chartered surveyor and registered valuer, ideally with post qualification experience across commercial property. You will have good working knowledge of relevant legislation and will ideally have a strong understanding of the local market to be able to identify new opportunities to grow the business further. You will be ambitious and keen to develop your career as part of a specialised team, focussing on commercial valuations generally. Travel will be required in this role, and a driving licence is essential.
