The manufacturing facility houses some of the most advanced machining technology in Europe such as a multi axis NDT robotic machine, automated material cutting machine and multi axis CNC machining centres. Job Purpose:
As Production Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the production process for aerospace components. This role requires an understanding of aerospace regulations and quality standards as well as leadership skills.
You will be responsible for ensuring the high quality production of aerospace components and systems. You will lead a team of production Team Leaders and operatives and coordinate various departments to meet production targets, maintain safety standards and comply with aerospace regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Successful management of machining and assembly departments.
2. Working towards business objectives.
3. Assist in the recruitment of new staff, carrying out succession planning, and to ensure cover is provided for all personnel during holiday periods etc.
4. Carry out annual/half yearly appraisals with clear and agreed objectives with Supervisors/Team leaders.
5. Providing accurate feedback on performance vs requirements.
6. Staff retention and motivation.
7. Continually address cost and waste reduction and productivity improvement through Lean initiatives.
8. Maintain and manage aerospace facility, ensuring it meets all necessary cleanliness and safety standards.
9. Plan and schedule production activities to meet delivery timelines and quality standards
10. Monitor production metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce waste.
11. Ensure components adhere to quality standards and comply with industry regulations
12. Implement and maintain robust quality control
13. Investigate and resolve quality issues or non-conformities
14. Implement best practices and innovative technologies to enhance productivity and quality
15. Enforce strict safety protocols within the cleanroom, including the use of appropriate personal protective equipment and adherence to safety guidelines
16. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate risk.
17. Lead and motivate team
18. Provide guidance, training and performance feedback to team members
19. Foster a collaborative work environment to enhance team performance and morale.
Qualifications & Experience:
20. Bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field
21. Previous experience in aerospace manufacturing, cleanroom production, or a similar role
22. Strong knowledge of aerospace industry standards, regulations, and quality control
23. Ability to work in a highly regulated and controlled environment
24. Excellent leadership, communications, and problem solving skills
25. Ability to work in a highly regulated and controlled environment
26. Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
