What we need in a nutshell
The Head of Risk & Facilities will build and lead the health, safety and park services plan across 27 locations, ensuring the safety of our guests and team members. Working with our Central Support functions and park leadership teams to ensure all activities are legally compliant, cost‑effective, and delivered to the highest standards, embedding a culture of safety, responsibility, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
* Manage the ongoing Health & Safety plan to include policies and frameworks.
* Ensure consistent standards and levels of compliance across all 27 parks through effective leadership and governance.
* Centrally manage group level maintenance and facilities contracts, ensuring spend is actively managed and optimised.
* Ensure risk assessments, audits, inspections, and incident investigations are carried out to a high standard, with timely close‑out of actions.
* Collaborate with Central Operations & Programmes Director to devise annual planned maintenance programmes, ensuring spend is appropriately managed.
* Own and continue to develop incident reporting.
* Build a culture of ongoing learning, where health and safety compliance is considered a hygiene factor.
* Manage budgets for H&S and group level facilities and maintenance ensuring spend is appropriately utilised.
* Identify cost‑saving opportunities while maximising ROI.
* Deliver all project work line or below allocated budgets.
* Champion the safety of guests and colleagues through proactive risk management.
* Ensure compliance with HASAWA, RIDDOR, fire safety, water safety, food safety and construction safety.
* Promote and embed a positive safety culture across all parks.
* Ensure timely reporting, investigation and closure of all incidents, near misses and identified risks.
* Implement and maintain robust Health & Safety policies, procedures and training to keep colleagues and guests safe.
* Provide leadership, coaching and development to Regional H&S Managers.
* Promote safety and compliance awareness across all levels of the business.
* Collaborate with General Managers, Operations and Development to embed safety and estates best practice.
* Set clear realistic priorities and regularly communicate and evaluate these with the team.
* Regularly communicate with team members individually ensuring objectives are clear while encouraging team retention.
* Create a working atmosphere that embraces everyone.
Skills, experience and qualities you’ll need
* Proven leadership in Health & Safety.
* Strong knowledge of UK safety legislation.
* Compliance & Governance.
* Budget & Cost Management.
* Multi-site Operational Leadership in a matrixed environment.
* NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent.
* Facilities/Property Accreditation: IWFM or similar – (desirable).
* Project Delivery.
