Our client, a well-established company in the electronic security system industry, is seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer to join their team in London. This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled professional to play a key role in ensuring projects are installed correctly, meet company and industry standards, and are successfully commissioned and handed over to clients.
Position Overview
As a Commissioning Engineer you will be responsible for coordinating commissioning testing and troubleshooting projects across the UK and some overseas locations. You will manage server deployments and programming activities, inspect installations to ensure adherence to technical standards, and communicate with project managers and internal staff. This role involves contributing to the technical design and delivery of complex global projects, providing technical/operational support to teams, and building relationships with suppliers and partners.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate commissioning tests and troubleshoot projects across the UK and overseas
* Manage server deployments and programming activities
* Inspect installations to ensure adherence to technical standards
* Communicate with project managers and internal staff
* Contribute to the technical design and delivery of complex global projects
* Provide technical/operational support to teams
* Build relationships with suppliers/partners
* Ensure detailed technical reviews and validated commissioning processes for all projects
* Provide service and maintenance support including remote assistance
* Adhere to commissioning and QA/QC processes
* Travel to client sites as required
* Manage and mentor junior engineers
* Engage in resolving open service cases
* Ensure accurate and timely completion of paperwork and handover documentation
Requirements
* 5 years of field experience commissioning medium to large enterprise-level access control and CCTV systems
* 10 years in the electronic security system industry
* Knowledge of enterprise-level access control systems (Lenel S2, CCure, Openpath, Feenics, AMAG, ProWatch, Genetec) and CCTV/VMS (Milestone, Genetec, Avigilon) (75% expected)
* Valid driving license, passport and right to work
* Exceptional telephone customer service, verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
* Attention to technical data
* Working knowledge of project-related costs for labor and materials
* Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer)
* Good understanding of networks, switches and firewalls
* Manufacturers’ certification on at least 50% of the listed enterprise systems
* Suitable ECS and IPAF certification (desirable)
* Current health and safety competencies (SMSTS / SSSTS) (desirable)
