Job Overview
As a Band 6 Physiotherapist in the Specialist Community Stroke Neuro‑Rehab team, you will provide high‑quality assessment and treatment to patients following acute stroke or neurological events. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team comprising Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapists, Psychologists, specialist support staff and administrators to deliver evidence‑based rehabilitation.
Key responsibilities include:
* Leading the Physiotherapy provision within stroke rehabilitation, helping patients achieve independent engagement in activities that enhance health and wellbeing
* Managing a caseload of patients with complex health and social care needs, using evidence‑based, client‑centred principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions
* Providing leadership for junior staff through supervision and appraisal
* Supporting the Physiotherapy lead in planning, developing and evaluating clinical services and taking responsibility for defined projects
* Working as a key member of the MDT to promote continued rehabilitation of patients and sharing specialist skills with team members
* Promoting and maintaining the ethos of Physiotherapy in all clinical and professional activities
* Supervising Junior Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy students on placement, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Assistants

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Degree in Physiotherapy or equivalent
* Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
* Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development
* Post‑graduate training related to neurological physiotherapy (e.g., Introduction to the Bobath Concept Module 1)
* Practice Placement Educator training
Experience
* Significant post‑registration rehabilitation experience or training and CPD in a neuro / stroke rehabilitation setting
* Evidence of multidisciplinary / inter‑agency working
* Ability to plan and delegate daily workload
* Ability to demonstrate and share knowledge and application of up‑to‑date evidence‑based clinical trends and practices
* Experience of clinical supervision of junior staff/students
Skills
* Knowledge of a range of appropriate assessment and treatment approaches for the client group and evidence of the ability to manage complex patients
* Evidence of continuing development and professional issues
* Demonstrates understanding of Clinical Governance and clinical effectiveness
* Knowledge and application of Health and Safety issues and their relevance in the community
* Knowledge of the use of orthotics
Personal Qualities
* Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in an appropriate manner, including where barriers to understanding exist
* Demonstrates ability to generate written communication that is relevant, concise, accurate and legible
* Demonstrates ability to work effectively in a team and delegate work to others as appropriate
* Demonstrates ability to work independently and prioritise own workload
* Awareness of recent development and professional issues
Other Job Requirements
* Ability to manually handle clients and equipment and to attain positioning necessary to perform safe and effective clinical interventions
* Ability to be independently mobile to travel across the Trust area
