Due to the impending retirement of the current post holder, we are recruiting for a Master Craftsperson (Vehicle Technician) to be based at the Scottish Ambulance Service, Fleet Workshop facility, at Glasgow City Workshop, you will be one of a highly skilled and dedicated team reporting to the Workshop Chargehand. The successful candidate may be required to work from other Scottish Ambulance Service Workshops on occasions.
This position is working shifts alternating early/late shift, covering the hours from 05:45 until 22:15, Mon-Thurs and 05:30 until 18:00 Fri, subject to change April 2026.

The successful candidate will:
* Be a qualified Vehicle Technician with experience in the maintenance and repair of cars and light commercial vehicles.
* Have undertaken an automotive apprenticeship and be qualified to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 (or comparable qualification) or equivalent experience.
* Have experience operating in a demanding working environment with health and safety at the forefront of our operation.
* Be confident in delivering a high-quality vehicle and equipment support, with a minimum of supervision, to our front-line colleagues throughout the West Region.
* Have a sound knowledge of vehicle diagnostics
* Having a knowledge of electrical and tail lift repairs would be advantageous.
* Be familiar in the use of internet and e-mail is desirable
* Hold a full driving licence with C1 entitlement or attain C! entitlement within 12 months of appointment (support may be available to attain this and can be discussed at interview)
This is a full-time position working 37 hours Monday to Friday, which will reduce to 36 hours April 2026. You will also be required to be undertake occasional overtime and public holiday working, and participate in a weekend working rota, all paid at the appropriate enhanced rate. If you are asked to work at another workshop it may a different shift pattern.
Shifts and working hours will be subject to change due to the reduction in the working going to 36 hours in April 2026.
