Job Summary.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead and deliver complex water projects from conception through to completion. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of project delivery including scope, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and stakeholder management. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical knowledge of infrastructure systems, and the ability to work within highly regulated environments while ensuring successful project outcomes for both clients and the organisation.
As a Senior Project Manager, you will have knowledge and experience in both pre and post-contract management in NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC form and procurement within the UK water, environment, rail or nuclear sector. As a Senior Project Manager, you will have experience working with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes.
Key Responsibilities.
● Lead the end-to-end delivery of major water projects
● Develop comprehensive project execution plans, schedules, and resource allocation strategies
● Ensuring project deliverables are aligned to client requirements and contractual obligations
● Coordinate design, procurement, construction, testing, and commissioning phases
● Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards
● Build and lead multidisciplinary project teams
● Manage resource allocation and workload distribution across the project team
● Maintain effective relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers, and regulatory bodies
● Identify, assess, and manage project risks through comprehensive risk registers
● Collaborating payment valuations and certifying monthly payments under ECC and PSC (NEC4)
● Implement risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans
● Monitor project budgets and financial performance against approved baselines
● Manage cash flow forecasting and expenditure reporting
● Implement quality management systems and ensure adherence to project specifications
Key Competencies.
● ECC Contract management and administration (client-side)
● Strong leadership skills with ability to inspire and motivate teams
● Excellent people management and conflict resolution abilities
● Understanding of infrastructure design principles and construction methodologies
● Understanding of regulatory frameworks and compliance obligations
● Proficiency in project management methodologies (PRINCE2, PMI, APM)
● Risk management and issue resolution capabilities
● Quality management and assurance expertise
● Understanding of commercial and contractual principles
● Budget management and financial control skills
● Cost management and value engineering capabilities
● Strong presentation and facilitation abilities
● Client relationship management expertise
Experience & Qualifications.
● Minimum 5 years' experience in project management within infrastructure, utilities, or rail sectors
● Experience of NEC3/4 Option A, Option C & Option E
● Proven track record of delivering projects with values exceeding £10 million
● Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex stakeholder environments
● Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical discipline
● Recognised project management qualification (PRINCE2 Practitioner, PMP, or APM)
● Professional membership of relevant institution (ICE, IET, CIOB, or equivalent)
