Role purpose
Mercer & Hole is a Top 50 accountancy practice committed to professional development and excellence. We provide accounting, tax, and advisory services to a diverse clientele. We are seeking an experienced Learning & Development professional to lead our training initiatives and develop the Mercer & Hole Training Academy.
Location
This role is firm-wide, based at our preferred office in St. Albans, with travel paid to other offices. You will establish and shape the training role across the firm, supporting training from Graduates/Apprentices to strategic business support.
Job Specification
As the lead L&D professional, you will drive the learning framework, working closely with HR, departmental leads, and training managers across service lines.
Skills
You should possess excellent project management skills and influence training managers to develop a firmwide Training Academy aligned with our People Passport aspirations. You will oversee the design and management of training programs that enhance skills and knowledge, including creating resources for our SharePoint platform. Your goal is to ensure employees are equipped to deliver excellent, consistent services, collaborating with managers, HR, and external providers. This role involves strategic contributions and close work with HR on training administration.
Main duties include:
1. Training Programme Development
2. Collaborate with partners, managers, and HR to identify training needs.
3. Design and update training programs and materials.
4. Create and maintain a training calendar.
5. Organize post-qualification training with the Training Partner/Director.
Strategic input into training future:
1. Process map IT systems across service lines.
2. Implement relevant technology training for new systems.
3. Establish content creators within each service line for the People Passport, with you as the overarching architect.
Trainees and School Leavers
* Coordinate with HR’s Early Talent Team to ensure trainees and school leavers are integrated into the People Passport and Training Academy.
Team Development
* Identify high-potential individuals and develop personalized growth plans with HR and Management.
* Promote a culture of continuous learning.
Training Evaluation and Improvement
* Gather feedback and improve training content and delivery.
* Monitor and report on training effectiveness to HR.
Documentation and Reporting
Maintain accurate records of training activities and outcomes for HR.
Qualifications & Experience
* A level and Degree qualification.
* ACA or CTA qualification is advantageous.
* Experience in a similar role within accountancy or financial services.
* Proven ability to influence and achieve results through others.
* Excellent communication, presentation, and organizational skills.
* Adaptability and multitasking ability.

MS Office, Outlook, PeopleHR, Teams, Zoom, Alphatax, CCH.
