Senior Network Engineer – Blandford, Dorset. As a Senior Network Engine er, you'll play a vital role in the ongoing growth and development of our network. You'll support daily planning, design, and configuration activities while serving as a 3rd Line escalation point for complex technical issues from our Network Engineering team. What you’ll be doing: Act as a 3rd Line technical escalation point for the NOC Manager and 2nd Line team. Plan and perform hardware and software upgrades across the network. Produce High-Level and Low-Level Designs for network projects. Maintain and update network documentation (Visio, Word, Wiki) Configure and install network hardware; implement protocol and infrastructure changes Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely delivery of network expansion. Provide technical input for the Sales team during pre-sales activities. Perform scheduled and emergency network maintenance. Deliver out-of-hours support as an escalation point for the 2nd Line and field teams. Maintain and update all network monitoring and management systems. Analyse faults, troubleshoot issues, and resolve complex technical problems. Work alongside internal and external 3rd Line teams on root cause analysis and resolution. Support the CTO in developing tools and services to improve network management. Ensure compliance with Health & Safety legislation and internal SHE protocols. Our ideal candidate will have: Strong experience in configuring and troubleshooting VLANs and Layer 2 networks. In-depth knowledge of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VPLS). Skilled in Linux and scripting for automation. Experience with Mikrotik and Juniper routers (desirable). Familiarity with VoIP technologies (SIPS). Comfortable working independently in live production environments. Solid background working in a service provider network. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Proactive and solution-oriented team player. Reliable, self-organised, and able to manage time effectively. Eager to learn and adapt to new systems and processes. Must hold a full UK driving licence (12 months). Desirable but not essential: Mikrotik and Juniper router expertise. CCNP – Cisco Certified Network Professional. 5 years in a service provider environment. JNCIP-SP – Juniper Networks Certified Service Provider Professional.
