Overview
Senior Fire, Health & Safety Consultant role at RPS. This is a fantastic opportunity to work across a varied portfolio of residential, commercial, and retail projects, helping clients create safe, compliant, and resilient spaces. This hybrid role typically involves 2–3 days per week on client sites and 2–3 days working remotely. Most client sites are located within or around the M25 corridor, with occasional national travel. To ensure efficient site coverage, candidates should be based within the M25 area, with travel times not exceeding 1.5 hours each way.

Responsibilities
* Deliver expert fire and health & safety advice, conduct risk assessments, and support clients in meeting regulatory obligations. Report to the Technical Director and contribute to project delivery, client engagement, and the continuous improvement of services.
* Field Work & Fire Risk Assessments: conduct independent site visits (primarily in student accommodation and high‑rise residential buildings); review fire strategies; advise clients on compliance and best practice across fire safety elements (fire resistance, alarm categories, sprinkler systems, wet and dry risers, fire doors, lifts); identify defects and deliver clear, actionable recommendations.
* Technical Reporting & Compliance Commentary: produce detailed fire and health & safety risk assessment reports that meet standards (BAFE where applicable); provide clear rationale behind decisions; reference site notes, include photographs, and include actionable recommendations; ensure documentation is technically reviewable.
* Technical Insight & Fire Safety Expertise: analyse and critique fire safety strategies; demonstrate understanding of building types from low‑ to high‑rise; may include opportunities to grow toward fire engineering.
* Residential Fire Risk Expertise: conduct fire risk assessments in residential settings (notably student accommodation and high‑rise buildings); minimum 6–12 months of relevant experience and understanding of regulatory standards.
* Stakeholder Engagement & Management: engage with internal teams and external stakeholders (property managers, area managers, directors); coordinate site visits with the Resource Team; adapt communication to seniority and influence levels.
Mandatory Training & Qualifications
* Minimum entry level NEBOSH, or NEBOSH Fire
* Diploma level qualification in Health and Safety
* CMIOSH – holding or working towards Chartered Member (or Technical Member)
* FRA level 4 residential (Level 3 accepted if mid‑rise residential experience and willingness to undertake high‑rise with relevant technical abilities)
* Registered with IFSM or IFE, minimum grade Technician (ideally Associate or Member)
* CFRAR (Competent Fire Risk Assessors Register) desired (ideally Tier 2 or working towards Tier 2)
Beneficial Training, Qualifications, or Equivalent Experience
* Experience or training in risk assessment methodologies and safety management systems
* Equivalent practical experience in fire, health & safety consulting or related sectors may be acceptable
* Progress toward or attainment of Chartered Status with a relevant body (e.g., IOSH, IFE)
* IFSM Technician (TIFSM) Membership Grade
* Experience of construction environments, fire engineering, or related disciplines
