We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Kitchen Assistant to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the kitchen staff with food preparation and maintaining a clean and efficient kitchen environment. This position is perfect for individuals looking to gain experience in the culinary field, whether in a restaurant, catering, or other food service settings.
Duties
* Assist with meal preparation by chopping vegetables, preparing ingredients, and assembling dishes as directed by the head chef or kitchen manager.
* Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
* Help in the cleaning and sanitisation of kitchen equipment, utensils, and work surfaces to ensure a safe cooking environment.
* Support the cooking staff during busy periods by providing assistance where needed, including plating dishes and serving meals.
* Organise and store food supplies properly to minimise waste and maintain freshness.
* Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations during meal service times.
Qualifications
* Previous experience in a kitchen environment is preferred but not essential; a willingness to learn is key.
* Knowledge of food safety practices and regulations is highly desirable.
* Basic culinary skills, including familiarity with meal preparation techniques.
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
* A passion for food and cooking, with an eagerness to develop culinary skills further.
