Overview
Senior Associate - Construction Professional Indemnity. The role focuses on intellectual challenge, client-focus and flexibility within our Professional and Commercial Risk team, specifically the Construction Professional Indemnity Team. The team handles a range of disputes and advisory work for insurers and insured professionals, with opportunities to grow within a national practice that collaborates across offices.
Responsibilities
* Interact regularly with clients to share knowledge of key issues and provide meaningful advice and support.
* Manage a workload of professional negligence claims within the construction sector, involving professionals such as architects, engineers, design & build contractors, quantity surveyors, project managers, and specialist subcontractors.
* Advise insurers on all aspects of coverage under a construction professional indemnity policy.
* Conduct both pre-action and litigated matters, providing real-time project support.
* Own a caseload while supporting Partners and supervising more junior fee earners on matters involving a large team of fee earners.
* Demonstrate a good understanding and experience of alternative dispute resolution, including mediation.
* Direct engagement with experts and Counsel, directing the work with both.
* Engage with the team and clients in a collaborative, high-performance environment to support growth of the practice.
Qualifications
* Professional indemnity construction expertise (~6+ PQE).
* Strong relationship and client-handling skills, commensurate with experience.
* Ability to deal confidently and professionally with clients on day-to-day issues.
* A good level of self-sufficiency, managing a caseload commensurate with experience.
* Change-oriented, with a positive, flexible approach towards the implementation of new initiatives.
* Team-oriented and collegiate, with a willingness to share knowledge and support other members of the team.
* A willingness to work hard as part of a highly ambitious and driven team.
* Ideally based within reach of one of the regional offices (Bristol, Manchester, Leeds or Newcastle) but capable of working as part of a national team; our Flex Forward policy supports hybrid and flexible working arrangements.
