As a Finance Business Partner (Large Stores), you will play a pivotal role in driving performance across the full breadth of the P&L. You’ll identify opportunities to grow market share, unlock operational efficiencies, and support the development and delivery of new store propositions. Whether it's analysing performance, influencing strategic decisions, or partnering with stakeholders across the business, your insight will help ensure every pound counts. 1. Co-piloting Regional Directors to drive business performance Acting as a trusted business expert across Sales, Payroll, and cost lines, supporting budgeting, forecasting, and profitability. Applying commercial acumen to analysis provided by FP&A teams to generate actionable insights and decision support. Constructively challenging the business and recommending changes, grounded in strong financial expertise and operational understanding. Leading performance conversations with Regional Directors and other P&L owners to drive meaningful actions and plans. 2. Driving performance across the full breadth of KPIs (Customer, Colleague, Operational, Financial) Leading and coaching financial performance improvement across the region, focusing on key initiatives such as the Big 6, Cost Convergence, and Profitability. Building capability within regional teams to effectively manage financial challenges and KPIs. Communicating strategic and operational plans clearly to relevant teams. Understanding localised complexities and cost impacts, and mitigating these through compelling financial rationale. Collaborating with FP&A to ensure plans are robust and aligned across all levels—store, regional, and format. Guiding Regional Directors through proposed budgets, forecasts, and performance updates, including sign-off of regionally allocated KPIs (Sales, Payroll, Big 6). 3. Future-proofing the business and looking ahead Facilitating knowledge sharing and best practice across finance and the wider business. Actively participating in the finance business partnering community. Operating within internal control guidelines to safeguard the company’s interests. Championing a cost-conscious culture across the organisation. Supporting functional initiatives aimed at driving efficiency within Tesco. Maintaining a strong understanding of store operations through regular engagement and visits to the large store estate. Qualified accountant (ACA,ACCA, CIMA or equivilent) Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, change-led environment with diverse stakeholders. Finance experience in driving strategic priorities in large complex organisations Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for trends and actionable insights. Influential and credible, with the ability to challenge and support in equal measure. Skilled in root cause analysis and problem solving. Effective coach, able to support colleagues with varying levels of financial knowledge. Clear communicator, able to articulate both the “what” and the “how”. Proven ability to prioritise, plan, and organise effectively.
