Overview
Camden CAMHS Wellbeing Team are recruiting 4 Trainee Childrens Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP) to continue to improve children and young peoples mental health services in Camden. The training forms part of the service transformation initiative delivered by NHS England as part of CYP Psychological Trainings (PT) (formerly CYP IAPT) programmes. The Tavistock has a national and international reputation as a training centre and provides an excellent environment in which trainees work.
We work with children and families aged 4. We provide group and individual CBT and parent training interventions to parents and young people with mild to moderate anxiety, low mood, or challenging behaviour. The team also plays an active role in community engagement, offering trainings to universal services and service user involvement projects. The team includes 3 CWPs, 4 Trainee CWPs, a parenting practitioner, systemic practitioner, CBT Therapists, a supervisor and service lead.
Responsibilities
* This is a training position. The post holder will undertake training at Kings College London alongside working in the service for The Wellbeing Team.
* They will be taught to deliver evidence-based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
* Start date is early/mid-January 2026; posts cannot be offered unless the candidate can guarantee this start date.
* Work will involve collaboration with community multidisciplinary teams and participation in the Tavistocks training environment.
Qualifications
* Essential: Undergraduate degree, 2:1 or above, in Psychology or related subject (e.g., Psychology, Education, Childhood development, Social Work) or any subject with relevant training/experience (e.g., Teaching/TA; Learning Support; HCA; Youth Work; Counselling).
* Previous experience of working with children and young people.
* Knowledge of child development, child wellbeing or mental health gained through academic study.
* Ability to learn in a variety of settings and formats, including remote delivery of teaching.
* Ability to study as a self-motivated learner and negotiate learning objectives with supervisory teams.
* Ability to manage a sensitive, traumatic and potentially emotionally distressing caseload.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Good time management and organisational skills.

* Location: Tavistock Centre, 120 Belsize Lane, London, NW3 5BA.
* Hours: 10 sessions / 37.5 hours per week.
* Duration: 1 year fixed term contract.
* Salary: £33,094 to £36,195 per annum (including HCAS).
* Contract type: Fixed term; Working pattern: Full-time.
