Responsibilities
* Work within the Facilities Maintenance Team to support the daily operation of the prisons
* Use carpentry, plumbing, electrical and other skills to maintain and repair built environments, fixtures and fittings
* Operate power tools safely and effectively, maintaining personal protective equipment and following all relevant safety procedures
* Collaborate with colleagues across a range of trade skills to deliver a safe and secure environment for prisoners, staff and visitors
* Maintain detailed records of work performed and comply with reporting requirements
Qualifications
* Substantiated experience in a similar role (carpentry, plumbing or related maintenance)
* Competency in the operation of all associated power tools and machinery
* Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word)
* Knowledge of health and safety requirements for work in a prison environment
* Up to date First Aid at Work qualification
* City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3 in Carpentry or equivalent qualification
* Excellent organisational, time‑management and people skills
