Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions division is seeking a highly experienced Legal and Compliance Counsel & Privacy Officer to join our world-class Legal & Compliance team. Reporting to the Vice President, Legal & Compliance, you will provide authoritative legal and compliance services with a specific focus on privacy and data protection. You will serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, delivering pragmatic, risk-based legal guidance and supporting governance, compliance, and ethical standards across the division. This role combines comprehensive legal counsel responsibilities with oversight of the company’s privacy program, ensuring compliance with evolving data privacy laws and regulations globally. Legal and Compliance Counsel Duties Provide authoritative and comprehensive legal advice aligned with commercial and strategic business needs. Advise on legal risks and mitigation strategies, and promote good governance by appropriately escalating issues. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and government procurement agreements, including but not limited to customer and supplier contracts, distribution agreements, intellectual property licenses, NDAs, development agreements, and real estate leases. Maintain corporate governance documents, including company registers, board resolutions, and meeting minutes. Develop and deliver legal and compliance training programs across the organization. Help maintain and improve policies, standards, and compliance checklists. Monitor and analyze new legislation and proactively implement solutions. Participate in cross-functional teams and committees to support legal and compliance initiatives. Lead the development and oversight of ethics and compliance programs, promoting a culture of integrity. Conduct internal investigations into misconduct allegations and recommend appropriate remedial actions. Privacy Officer Duties Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies and procedures in compliance with relevant privacy laws and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). Monitor and assess compliance with privacy regulations and conduct privacy risk assessments and audits. Oversee the management of data inventories, data flow mapping, and data retention policies. Ensure data protection clauses are included in contracts with external parties; review and negotiate data protection agreements. Assess the privacy practices of third-party vendors and monitor their compliance. Serve as the Data Protection Officer, where applicable, and act as the primary contact for privacy incidents and breaches. Lead investigations into data breaches and ensure timely notifications to stakeholders and authorities. Coordinate responses to regulatory inquiries and investigations related to privacy violations. Develop and deliver privacy training programs to promote awareness and compliance. Provide privacy guidance to HR, marketing, product development, and IT teams. Collaborate with IT/security teams to implement robust data protection measures (encryption, access controls). Stay current with emerging privacy trends, technologies, and regulatory changes. Champion division- and group-level privacy standards, policies, and governance. Prepare and present privacy-related reports and metrics to senior leadership. Must Have Law degree (LLB or JD) from an accredited institution and license to practice law in a relevant jurisdiction. Minimum 15 years of corporate commercial legal experience in-house or at a top-tier law firm. Proven expertise in international corporate, commercial, and technology contracts. Strong track record of delivering pragmatic, risk-based legal advice. Exceptional accuracy, attention to detail, and time management skills. Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and ability to influence internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated customer focus and ability to build strong relationships. Nice to Have Expertise in intellectual property licensing. Certification in data privacy (e.g., CIPP, CIPM).
