You will work on major water and wastewater schemes throughout all phases of the project from feasibility through to construction. We have secured a new framework with Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water that will last up to eight years, seeing MMB tackle projects across the DCC region covering clean and wastewater treatment sites, below‑ground assets, reservoirs and nature‑based solutions.
After securing our first framework with DCC at the beginning of AMP6, our presence in Wales has grown significantly, directly employing over 270 colleagues in the country across all roles from front‑line construction to design and management positions.
Responsibilities
* Preparing and reviewing designs through calculations and models for schemes, ensuring all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
* Producing and reviewing technical specifications and schedules for procurement activities, reviewing supplier tender bids and technical submissions.
* Understanding, applying and contributing to design standards with a good knowledge of client and industry standards.
* Appropriately challenging client specifications and presenting and defending solutions to complex problems.
* Identifying opportunities to improve delivery processes including development and implementation of standard designs, sustainable solutions, and digital tools.
* Acting as technical checker on project documents and undertaking technical reviews for projects across teams.
* Managing the interfaces and integration of the design with that of other disciplines and production of documentation.
* Actively seeking input from other engineers, specialists, client and project team members to improve understanding and deliver fit‑for‑purpose solutions.
* Working closely and collaboratively with the commercial, operational and construction teams to develop efficient, practical and safe solutions throughout design stages, construction and beyond.
* Supervising and mentoring our graduates and engineers, assisting them to develop their knowledge and skills.
* Positively engaging with the client, managing relationships and adopting a one‑team approach to supporting them in achieving their aims.
* Undertaking site reviews to ensure buildability of solutions and integration within the existing systems.
Qualifications & Experience
* Degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
* Chartered member of a professional institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE) or equivalent experience.
* Experience with water, wastewater, non‑infrastructure or infrastructure projects.
* Experience of successfully delivering high quality output in accordance with design, quality and safety standards.
* Ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
* Methodical approach to problem solving.
* A proactive and pragmatic approach.
* Proficient in delivering results within short timeframes, prioritising tasks and managing your time efficiently.
* A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites.
