The salary for this permanent IRO/Child Protection Advisor job is up to £86,974per annum. Main duties: To be the independent chairs of multi-agency Child Protection Conferences and Looked After Reviews for children at risk of harm or in the care of the Minister in accordance with statutory guidance, IRO regulations and safeguarding procedures. This includes a responsibility for coordinating and scrutinising the plans for the most vulnerable children in Jersey and ensuring that appropriate and accurate records of meetings are produced and distributed within statutory timescales. To promote the involvement and participation of children and young people, parents and carers in planning and decision making, including monitoring the performance of the Government's function as corporate parent. To provide advice and consultation for staff in Children's Service, including the provision of independent scrutiny and oversight, proposing where necessary improvements to planning and practice in order to ensure that all aspects of Children's needs are regularly reviewed and provisions made to meet those needs, including for safety and protection. To provide safeguarding advice and consultation to staff in complex child protection cases. To act as the Jersey Designated Officer as required, chairing strategy meetings and follow up as necessary where there are concerns that a child may be harmed or at risk of harm, in line with Jersey Managing Allegations policy. To assist in the development of quality assurance and performance management arrangements within the Children's Services Directorate, including completing audits and contributing to service development. To contribute to the training and staff development programme as required. To carry out reviews of children and young people who are the responsibility of Jersey are held in Secure Accommodation. To address directly and decisively (including independently challenging) any safeguarding or planning/performance issues that raise concern in accordance with the organisations policies and procedures, and legislation requirements. Requirements of this IRO/Child Protection Advisor role: A social Work Qualification or equivalent. Understanding of relevant legislation. Registered or eligible for registration. A Minimum of 5 Years Post Qualification Experience in a Child Protection Setting.
