About Us

Purpose: Provide professional career guidance, including personal interviews, to improve young people’s skills and career planning.

Main Duties
* Conduct client‑focused, impartial personal career guidance interviews (1:1 and group sessions) to support realistic career decisions.
* Work closely with career leads, maintaining client records and providing summaries of guidance.
* Apply labor market intelligence to advise students/clients on relevant opportunities, using IT tools such as social media and web‑based information.
* Organise careers fairs and related activities with the Careers Leader.
* Support the Careers Leader with resource management, opportunity provider insights, programme development and compliance with Gatsby Benchmarks and Quality in Careers Standards Award.
* Facilitate career‐related learning activities with students/clients.
* Monitor and support school leavers and destinations, providing timely data to the operational team.
* Refer to specialist services when required (e.g., SEND) and communicate with external agencies and networks.
* Involve parents and carers where relevant and attend parents’ evenings as needed.
* Abide by all legislation, codes (CDI, school policies), safeguarding and equality standards.
* Continuously reflect on practice and pursue professional development to stay current with sector developments.
Person Specification
Essential
* Hold an appropriate qualification in careers guidance (Level 6 or above) or working towards L6.
* Experience in an IAG setting.
* IT‑literate (MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other platforms).
* Ability to work to tight timelines, deliver high‑quality work under pressure.
* Strong organisational skills with prioritisation and multi‑stream management.
* Confidence presenting to large group sizes and working across multiple educational settings.
* Proactive, innovative, anticipatory of issues without prompting.
* Numerate, detail‑oriented, high standards for own work.
* Excellent written and verbal communication.
* Build strong working relationships with senior school staff.
* Desire to learn and develop new skills and capabilities.
* Collaborative team player, supportive of colleagues, committed to company mission.
* Compliance with GDPR legislation.
* Represent Progress Careers professionally at career events.
Desirable
* Flexible working (potential occasional evenings).
* Experience creating learning resources and lesson planning.
* Existing registration on the CDI Professional Register.
* Strong networks and awareness of provision within the relevant geographical territory.
