Protocol Education is working with a specialist alternative provision in Shrewsbury, Shropshire, to recruit an experienced and adaptable Teacher to deliver personalised, therapeutic education to vulnerable young people aged 11–18.

The school supports pupils who have experienced significant trauma, including those at risk of or recovering from exploitation. About the Role:
* Plan and deliver bespoke lessons in core and foundation subjects, tailored to the needs of individual learners
* Teach across primary or secondary phases, depending on your strengths and experience
* Engage students in creative, therapeutic, and academic learning in small group or 1:1 settings
* Support pupils who may have significant gaps in education, or those working at higher levels needing academic challenge
* Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure consistency, safety, and student wellbeing
* Contribute to a warm and supportive learning environment that promotes respect, resilience, and independence
Role Details:
* Location: Shrewsbury, Shropshire
* Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 (negotiable, dependent on experience and qualifications)
* Contract Type: Permanent, full-time
* Start Date: 01 September 2025
* Hours: Monday to Friday
What We’re Looking For:
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS or QTLS) or equivalent (e.g. PGCE, DET/DTLLS)
* Recent experience teaching at a range of levels, including Entry Level, Functional Skills, GCSE, or phonics/literacy support
* A strong understanding of SEN and SEMH needs, with a trauma-informed and pupil-centred approach
* Excellent behaviour management, resilience, and adaptability
* A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel between settings if required
* A clear and current Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
Desirable:
* Experience teaching in alternative provisions, PRUs, therapeutic or SEN settings
* Creativity in curriculum design and a passion for making learning engaging and fun
* Knowledge of safeguarding processes and multi-agency working
