Role Summary

The Insight Application Team sits within the wider Product Insight & Ideation team in Propositions at Cambridge English and works cross-functionally to deliver on our mission to help shape the future of English by bridging the gap between research and decision-making. Our work takes place at the intersection of research and practice, ensuring that English can translate the highest quality educational insights from around the world into strategy, product development, the iteration of existing products, teacher training and services, and educational guidance and frameworks. This role is ideal for someone passionate about ensuring teachers and learners worldwide have access to high‑quality, evidence‑based English language education, and who thrives on thinking critically about how English language teaching must adapt to ever‑changing societal needs, technological advancements, and employment trajectories.

Responsibilities

* Proactively seek out the latest educational insights and trends globally, specifically related to English language teaching, learning and assessment, including emerging technologies, socio‑emotional skills curricula, and teacher professional development.
* Translate educational and/or market insights into tangible propositions for English (e.g., designing new products, refining existing products or providing teacher support).
* Collaborate cross‑functionally with colleagues focused on research and development within English to maximise impact and strategic alignment.
* Commission external experts to support us, including writing project briefs, setting timelines, and quality‑assuring deliverables.
* Recommend frameworks and best practices for content development and process improvement.
* Advise on ethical and pedagogical considerations in emerging technologies (e.g., AI in education).
* Identify opportunities for innovation and recommend changes to enhance customer experience (teachers, learners, parents, and senior leadership within schools).

This is a hybrid role; the selected candidate will typically spend at least 40% of their time (two days a week) collaborating face‑to‑face at a dedicated location. Flexible working arrangements will be considered from the first day of employment.

Qualifications

Education and experience:

* A degree (or industry‑standard equivalent) with a strong understanding of teaching and learning English, either as a teacher or learner of English.
* At least 3 years of experience in educational research (preferably in ELT) or teaching.
* Solid understanding of the ELT sector, particularly publishing and assessment.
* Good knowledge of research tools, methodologies and current research developments in education.
* Expertise in at least two of the following areas: curriculum design, linguistics, ELT and pedagogy, educational psychology, or socio‑emotional learning.
* Post‑graduate qualification in ESOL, Education, Psychology, Applied Linguistics or a related field (desirable).
* Experience in designing educational materials and/or corpus linguistics (desirable).

Benefits

* 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays.
* Private medical and permanent health insurance.
* Discretionary annual bonus.
* Group personal pension scheme.
* Life assurance up to 4 × annual salary.
* Green travel schemes.

Equal Opportunity

We welcome applications from all candidates and are committed to an equitable recruitment process. All applicants will be considered without regard to age, disability, educational attainment, ethnicity, gender, marital status, neurodiversity, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual identity, culture or social class/background.
