The Opportunity
Barnsley College is seeking a skilled and motivated Electrical Installations Trainer to join our Engineering department. This is an exciting opportunity to support apprentices across their journey, delivering high quality training and assessment that prepares them for successful careers within the electrical industry.
You will play a key role in supporting both learners and employers, delivering a structured and engaging apprenticeship experience that develops the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for progression and end point assessment. Working closely with employers and the wider team, you will contribute to the continued growth and success of our apprenticeship provision.
What You’ll Be Doing
As an Electrical Installations Trainer, you will manage and support a caseload of apprentices, ensuring they receive high quality teaching, training and assessment throughout their programme. You will plan, prepare and deliver both theoretical and practical learning, aligning your delivery with curriculum requirements and apprenticeship standards.
You will monitor learner progress closely, using structured review cycles and individual training plans to support development. You will provide clear, constructive feedback and guidance, helping apprentices to build confidence, demonstrate progress and prepare effectively for their end point assessments.
A key part of your role will involve working in partnership with employers, carrying out workplace assessments and maintaining strong relationships that support learner development and generate future opportunities. You will support recruitment, onboarding and enrolment processes, ensuring apprentices and employers understand programme expectations from the outset.
You will also contribute to the development of learning materials and assessment plans, ensuring they are aligned to the relevant Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours. You will support compliance and quality assurance requirements, participate in standardisation activities and ensure all documentation is accurate and meets awarding body and College standards.
About You
You will be confident in delivering both practical and theory based training, using a range of methods to meet the needs of different learners. With strong communication and interpersonal skills, you will be able to build positive relationships with apprentices, employers and colleagues, supporting a collaborative and professional learning environment.
You will be organised and proactive in managing your workload, able to work to deadlines and adapt to the needs of a dynamic apprenticeship environment. A commitment to continuous professional development, safeguarding and delivering high quality training will be essential to your success in this role.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
•Level 3 qualification in Electrical Installations
•Assessor Awards (or willingness to work towards)
•Level 4 teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards)
•GCSE Maths and English (or equivalent Level 2 qualification) or willingness to work towards
•18th Edition qualification or willingness to work towards within an agreed timeframe
•Previous relevant work experience within industry
