About The Role
Please review the Placement Map link below before applying, which shows all of the schools that we currently conduct placements in. Note that this does not guarantee placement availability; we will do our best to accommodate your preferences.
Placement Map
Please ensure you only apply for one vacancy. This is your location preference, which can be changed later.
Counsellors on Placement provide emotional and therapeutic support to children and young people aged 4-18 in Place2Be partner schools. As an organisation aligned with the BACP ethical framework, our counsellors are dedicated to improving mental health and well-being.
* We offer regular supervision, tailored training workshops, and a well-recognised clinical placement.
* Comprehensive induction and daily clinical supervision are provided.
* Availability of at least one half-day per week for one-to-one counselling with up to 3 children.
* Placements are term-time only for one academic year, with opportunities for extension.
* Up to six optional workshops per year, recognised for CPD.
* Sessions with children count as clinical hours towards professional accreditation, recognised by BACP and UKCP.
* Many of our staff started as placements; this is a valuable career stepping stone.
* Available placements in primary and secondary schools nationwide.
Counting your hours
Clinical hours gained can count towards accreditation with bodies like BACP and UKCP. Check with your course tutor if child hours are accepted for your course. If not, you may consider a second placement with us.
Diversity and Inclusion
We promote equal opportunities and strongly encourage applications from diverse backgrounds, especially from Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic communities. We are also keen to attract male candidates to reflect community diversity. Successful applicants will require an Enhanced DBS/PVG check.
About You
You must be a fully qualified Counsellor, Therapist, or Clinical Psychologist, or studying towards these at the following levels:
* Diploma in Counselling (Level 4 or above), or a full academic year Certificate in Counselling if in the first year.
* Degree, MSc, or MA in Counselling, Counselling Psychology, or Psychotherapy, with relevant experience if in the first year.
We welcome applications from suitable candidates eager to thrive in this rewarding environment.
