What we offer you Commencing Salary: $107,058.00 with performance progression up to $123,924.00 12% Superannuation Employment Type: Permanent full-time Flexible Working Arrangements (In accordance with Council’s Finding Balance policy) The best of both worlds – click here to learn more Here's what you'll be up to… In the role of Senior Development Assessment Planner you will be responsible for the assessment of a wide range of development proposals and subdivision certificates, assist with customer enquiries and gain invaluable professional development experience working within a multi-disciplinary assessment team. In addition to the core functions of the role, the position also includes responsibility for the following: Mentoring of junior staff in the field of development assessment Running of pre-lodgement meetings and inter-departmental collaboration meetings related to the assessment of development proposals Supporting the Development Assessment Coordinator and Principal Planners (Team Leaders) in operational matters within the Development Assessment Unit Fostering collaborative and solution focused relationships with multiple disciplines across Council in the achievement of quality development outcomes Review and preparation of submissions on State Significant Development and State Significant Infrastructure proposals as well as other State Government led proposals Review and preparation of submissions regarding planning policy and procedural amendments. We’re looking for someone who meets the following criteria: A tertiary qualification in Planning Demonstrated senior level experience in the assessment and determination of a wide range of development applications and/or senior experience as a planning professional Experience in presenting to Planning Panels or Urban Design Review Panels Previous experience in a local government environment Demonstrated experience mentoring staff in the field of development assessment and / or planning enquiries Please view the position description for additional essential criteria. Applicants are also encouraged to outline any experience gained acting as an expert witness for the NSW Land and Environment Court including exposure to writing Statements of Facts and Contentions and Joint Expert Reporting, as well as attending or giving evidence at Section 34 Conciliation Conferences and NSW Land and Environment Court Hearings. The must-know bits You will be required to undertake employment checks, which may include a Criminal History Check, Qualification Check, Working with Children Check, Medical Declaration and/or a Functional Test, as relevant to the position for which you have applied. Where a Criminal History Check is required and has returned a result that indicates disclosable court outcomes, you will be required to provide a copy of the report to Penrith City Council, for review, to progress through the recruitment process.
