Job Title: Capital Projects Manager\n\nLocation: London Borough of Hackney\nDirectorate: Strategic Property Services – Corporate Property & Asset Management\n\nAbout the Role\n\nWe are seeking a dynamic and experienced Capital Projects Manager to join Hackney Council’s Strategic Property Services team. In this pivotal role, you will lead the successful delivery of individual capital projects from inception to completion across a wide and varied corporate programme.\n\nWorking within the Corporate Property & Asset Management division, you will manage multi-disciplinary project teams and external consultants to ensure delivery is achieved on time, within budget, and to the highest specification.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\n * Lead and deliver individual projects within the Council’s Corporate Capital Programme.\n\n * Manage external consultants and professional teams to deliver projects of varying size and complexity.\n\n * Oversee all aspects of project delivery, including procurement, financial management, contract negotiation, risk mitigation, and reporting.\n\n * Collaborate closely with internal stakeholders across directorates to ensure seamless project integration.\n\n * Update property database systems with accurate, timely information post-project.\n\n * Ensure full compliance with capital governance processes and Council policies.\n\n * Promote sustainability and contribute to the Council’s Energy Usage Reduction and carbon footprint strategies.\n\n * Work with external partners (e.g., GLA) to maximise funding opportunities.\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\n * Proven track record in delivering complex capital projects within a public sector or large-scale organisation.\n\n * Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead on procurement, risk management, and financial control.\n\n * Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and working with senior stakeholders.\n\n * Excellent understanding of legal, contractual, and health & safety obligations in project delivery.\n\n * A strategic thinker with a collaborative mindset and a commitment to innovation, sustainability, and community impact.\n\nHow to Apply\n\nIf you're ready to be a part of a service that truly makes a difference, we’d love to hear from you.
