We are recruiting on behalf of the Probation Services for a Community Employment Lead to assist prison-leavers in accessing sustainable employment opportunities, improve employment outcomes (e.g., securing employment within six weeks post-release), and contribute to a learning project to inform long-term strategies for supporting employment for individuals on community sentences and post-release.
Location: Sheffield
Contract: 4 Months
Work hours: 37 hours per week
Salary: £20.07 per hour Umbrella, £15.40 PAYE
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Lead employment support for prison-leavers in Sheffield PDU, helping them secure jobs post-release.
2. Provide tailored guidance (CVs, job applications, interview prep) to improve employability.
3. Drive improvement in employment outcomes (e.g., securing work within six weeks of release).
4. Track and report on performance, adjusting support to maximize impact.
5. Collaborate with local employers, job centres, and agencies to create job opportunities.
6. Collect data and feedback for project evaluation and report writing.
7. Engage with stakeholders (internal teams, external agencies) to ensure comprehensive support.
8. Provide regular progress updates to the Area Executive Director’s team.
Person Specification:
1. Experience working with vulnerable individuals, especially ex-offenders or those on community sentences.
2. Knowledge of barriers to employment for prison-leavers and related support services.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse stakeholders.
4. Proven project management and organizational skills.
5. Ability to track progress, analyse data, and produce clear reports.
6. Familiarity with the criminal justice system and probation services.
7. Experience leading or supporting employability projects.
8. Good IT skills and ability to ensure work is completed accurately within required timescales.
9. A current Enhanced DBS check is required for this role, which we can process for you.
