Churchill College’s friendly busy Porters’ Lodge is looking to recruit relief porters to help cover shifts within the Lodge, which is operational 24/7. This is a crucial role and makes a vital contribution to the smooth running of the College. Applicants will need to enjoy interacting with the public, Fellows, students, staff, and guests and be able to deliver first class customer service. They will need to be able to remain calm under pressure and manage emergency situations professionally and confidently. The work is very varied, and includes fire safety and security duties, as well as mail and key handling. Full training will be given.
As a Casual Relief Porter, we are unable to offer guaranteed hours, but you will be covering annual leave, sickness, and occasions when additional support is required in the Porters’ Lodge. Shifts operate throughout the day and night. We will give as much notice as possible when shifts are offered, however, in the case of sickness, shifts may be offered at short notice. The post would suit someone with flexible availability.
