About the Role We are seeking a dedicated Packaging Technologist to join our team at our Carlisle site, which is a long-standing and respected site, known for producing premium ready meal products for high-profile retail partners. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a food related degree or similar and with a passion for food. You'll play a key role in ensuring that packaging is ready for new product launches. This role focuses on coordinating across various departments to keep timelines and deliverables on track - you won't be designing the packaging yourself, but rather managing the process to make sure everything comes together smoothly. This is an ideal role for someone who's passionate about food, thrives in a busy environment, and is eager to grow within the production function and the wider business. What you'll do: Support the development, testing, and implementation of new and existing packaging materials and formats across multiple product categories. Work closely with suppliers to ensure packaging meets functional, quality, and regulatory standards. Conduct packaging trials and performance tests to validate material suitability for processing, transport, and shelf life. Assist in investigating packaging-related non-conformances and support root cause analysis and corrective actions. Maintain accurate documentation for packaging specifications, approvals, and change control. Collaborate with production, engineering, and technical teams to optimise packaging for sustainability, efficiency, and cost. Stay up to date with packaging legislation, materials innovation, and emerging trends in sustainable packaging solutions. About You If you are already in the food manufacturing industry or a graduate student who has had a placement in the food industry or with an interest in working within food, then this role is for you. Key Skills What we're looking for A degree in Food Science, Food Technology, or a related discipline, with a genuine interest in pursuing a career in the food industry. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality and safety. Experience within industry is beneficial - Training provided Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to apply scientific thinking to real-world challenges. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive and positive attitude. Willingness to learn, develop, and gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.
