Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, you'll play a critical role in ensuring robust financial governance, statutory compliance and financial controls across Gist's UK and Ireland legal entities. This is a highly visible role that combines financial controls, statutory reporting, audit management and technical accounting, providing the opportunity to work closely with senior stakeholders across Gist and M&S. Here are some of the benefits we offer that make working for Gist just that little bit more special… 20% M&S discount on most things from furniture, fashion and food 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays (rising with length of service) Discounted rates on healthcare cash plan Car Allowance Attractive annual bonus scheme, based on M&S performance and personal objectives Auto Enrolment Pension or competitive Defined Contribution Pension Scheme and life assurance (up to 4 times salary) Amazing perks and discounts via our App to major restaurants and retailers Access to a wide range of wellbeing support – including our Employee Assistance Programme A first-class welcome with a tailored induction and a wide range of training schemes to help with your learning and development Cycle to work scheme Role details: Salary : Competitive Hours : 37.5 hours Per Week Working pattern: Monday- Friday 9-5pm Location: Chineham (Basingstoke) -Hybrid What you’ll do: Your key accountabilities will include: Leading the financial controls and compliance framework across Gist UK and Ireland, ensuring appropriate controls are designed, documented and evidenced Managing the preparation, review and completion of statutory accounts for multiple legal entities Acting as the key contact for internal and external auditors, coordinating audit activity and ensuring timely responses to audit requirements Driving continuous improvement of financial controls and supporting the implementation of new governance and compliance requirements Providing technical accounting expertise and guidance to finance and business stakeholders Coordinating corporation tax reporting requirements and wider finance compliance activities Building strong relationships with stakeholders across Gist, M&S Group Finance, auditors and external advisors Who you are: Your skills and experience will include: Qualified accountant (ACA or ACCA preferred) Significant experience in statutory reporting and financial compliance Strong understanding of financial controls, governance and audit requirements Experience managing external audit relationships and year-end reporting processes Strong technical accounting knowledge and the ability to interpret and apply accounting standards Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence and challenge at all levels Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines Advanced Excel skills and strong analytical capability Why Gist?
