The job itself
Are you an experienced social work practitioner, looking for a unique and interesting role supporting best practice? East Riding of Yorkshire Council is seeking a permanent part-time (18.5 hours) Quality of Practice Advanced Practitioner to join our quality of practice team. The post-holder will support our continued improvement journey, driving a strengths and relational based practice model in our work with children, young people, and their networks.
The post-holder will implement our Quality of Practice Framework, including but not exclusively, the completion of Reflective Space activity (audits) and analysing the outcome of activity to feed into wider learning and development.
This is an ideal opportunity for practitioners seeking a change, who are passionate about high quality social work practice, and those who want to be part of ensuring that our services improve outcomes for children and their families.
About Us
At East Riding, we are committed to creating and sustaining the conditions for outstanding social work and leadership to flourish. As a 'good' Local Authority, we believe in pushing boundaries and delivering excellence for children and families. Our innovative approach includes offering unique roles that provide our social workers with diverse experiences and opportunities for professional growth.
The Role
As a Quality of Practice Practitioner, you will be responsible for quality assurance of our work across all of childrens services. This is a specialist role in a large and ambitious service, working across multiple portfolios, with multiple complexities, users and partners.
We are looking for an experienced social work practitioner with a passion for strengths-based approaches and relational practice, and a commitment to securing good outcomes for children, young people, and their network by adopting reflective practices.
You will build upon your background and experience of working with children and young people, to scrutinise and promote reflection on practice as part of a robust reflective quality assurance system. As well as undertaking detail-oriented reviews of records, you will work directly with practitioners, supporting them to reflect upon their interventions with children, young people, and their families, celebrating best practice and considering how interventions could be delivered differently to shape and influence future service delivery. You will be responsible for ensuring that practice is in keeping with the local authority practice standards.
This is a permanent, part-time (18.5 hours) position to join the existing team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Facilitate high-quality, relational, reflective discussions with practitioners, supporting them to reflect on their interventions with children, young people and their families, celebrating best practice and considering how interventions could be delivered differently to shape and influence future service delivery.
2. Undertake detail-orientated quality assurance of our intervention with families, recognising that the performance data only tells part of the 'practice story', placing greater emphasis on quality of practice.
3. Seek out information from multiple sources including electronic systems, and children, young people and their networks to understand the impact of practice.
4. You will be responsible for undertaking quality of practice activities to meet service demands and as part of a planned monthly cycle of activity, extracting themes and patterns to demonstrate what needs to happen to drive performance, reporting to the Quality of Practice Manager. Your findings will contribute to the East Riding of Yorkshire's commitment to a cycle of continuous learning and improvement.
What We Are Looking For
5. Social work degree / qualification or equivalent (CSS CQSW, Dip SW).
6. Extensive experience within relevant social work services.
7. Strong understanding of legislation, safeguarding, and early help frameworks.
8. Excellent communication (oral and written) and analytical skills.
9. Flexible, autonomous and values-drive professional.
10. Knowledge and experience of approaches to quality assurance.
11. Experience of undertaking analysis and identifying themes.
12. Experience of preparing reports and recommendations.
Why Join Us
13. A competitive salary and benefits package.
14. Opportunities for professional development and career progression.

16. The chance to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across East Riding.
