Job overview Ward Clerk – Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) & Direct Assessment Area (DAA) Our busy 25‑bedded Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, admitting patients from the Emergency Department, GP practices, and into our 13‑bedded Direct Assessment Area (DAA). Patients typically remain with us for up to 72 hours before either transferring to the most appropriate ward for ongoing care or being safely discharged home. MAU/DAA plays a vital role in the patient journey, providing timely assessment, investigation, and initial treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. We work closely with our colleagues in A&E and Ambulatory Care to improve patient flow, reduce waiting times, and deliver high‑quality, responsive care. The service—particularly the DAA—has benefited from significant Trust investment as part of a wider programme to enhance Emergency Care. Advert About the Role We are seeking an organised, proactive, and confident Ward Clerk to provide comprehensive administrative support across both MAU and DAA. In this key role, you will: Oversee the day‑to‑day administrative running of the unit Support staffing processes, including rota coordination and recruitment activity Contribute to staff wellbeing and development initiatives Assist in the implementation of ongoing service improvements Act as a central point of contact for patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team About You We’re looking for someone who is: Highly organised, with excellent attention to detail Comfortable working in a fast‑paced and dynamic environment A strong communicator, able to work well with patients, families, and clinical teams Motivated, adaptable, and committed to delivering excellent patient‑focused support Why Join Us?
