Job Description:
Contract Games Designer (Mid-Level)
4–6 months (with potential extension)
Remote – Full Time
Start ASAP
We’re looking for amid-level Game Designer with a background in education! This is a full-time, remote contract role for 4–6 months, with the potential for extension.
We are creating an educational game for kids aged 10–14. It is a 2.5D adventure-puzzle with a strong focus on narrative.
Teaching experience is a must, and teaching biology is a strong preference.
What you’ll be doing:
* Designing an explorable island map, puzzles, and game flow for an educational adventure-puzzle game
* Creating engaging, educationally focused puzzles and interactions for 10–14 year olds
* Developing interactive dialogue and narrative structure in collaboration with a writer
* Documenting design intent and vision clearly for the team
* Collaborating closely with the producer, creative director, programmer, artist, and educational advisor
* Using standard game design tools like Standard Game Engines (Godot is a plus), Twine, Miro, Figma—or whatever helps you design great experiences
What we’re looking for:
* Proven experience designing exploration-based or puzzle-driven games
* Teaching experience (essential)—especially in biology (a strong plus)
* A creative, curious mindset with an eye for making learning fun and meaningful
* Ability to work collaboratively with a fully remote team
* Ready to hit the ground running—flexible, self-motivated, and a good communicator
* Link to your portfolio page if you have one
* A brief cover letter highlighting your most relevant experience and interest

Our diverse and motivated team is looking forward to hearing from you!
