The Team
The Highways Asset Maintenance team are looking for an experienced senior engineer with maintenance design experience
The Highways Maintenance Design Team are responsible for ensuring 1900km of both urban and rural roads are fit for purpose, in line with our Asset Management Strategy and the “Well Managed Highway Infrastructure: Code of Practice”. The team deliver a well-maintained network which contributes to the local economy and works to make the best use of the methods and materials available to prolong the life of our infrastructure, or to re-new it.

You will need:
* Hold HNC/HND or level 4 qualification or above in civil engineering or related discipline or proven ability to work at that level.
* Knowledge and experience of highway maintenance design
* People management skills
* Project management skills
* NRASWA Supervisor accreditation

The Role
The role will focus on maintenance schemes that you will prepare scheme drawings and bills of quantities for schemes you are involved in as well as:
* identifying appropriate treatments and materials for defective situations taking into account the life cycle of the asset.
* Liaising with other Teams to identify any other works that could be delivered at the same time as your schemes.
* Applying for road closures, notices, permits (where applicable) liaising with the Streetworks (NRSWA) team to compliment the programmes.
* Understanding the principals of an NEC contract to assist in the management of contractors
* Undertaking the relevant duty holder’s role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015.
* Supervision of works being undertaken as a result and keep clear and accurate records of those inspections.
* Project management including managing project budgets
* Investigating and responding to requests from members of the public, Councillors and MP’s
* Needing a full and valid driving licence
