Special Ed Resource Teacher
The Oxford Hills School District is seeking excellent candidates for the position of Special Ed Resource Teacher at The Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School in South Paris, ME.
Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School serves approximately 1100 students in grades 9-12. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with students, employ effective teaching practices, and work collaboratively.
Job Description
Candidates must hold a valid Maine certification 282 or the ability to obtain one with appropriate endorsement(s).
Reports to: Building Principal
Work Schedule: 180 days contract
MSAD #17 offers a robust employee benefits package for full-time employees, including: health insurance with 80% of the premium paid by the employer (with up to 100% if both spouses work in the district); dental, vision, Group Life Insurance; flexible spending and dependent care accounts; Maine Public Employee Pension, 403(b) retirement plan eligibility; 15 paid sick days per year; and tuition reimbursement.
In addition to the base salaries above, Special Education positions receive the following annual supplemental stipends:
* Day Treatment Teachers - $4,500
* Functional Life Skills Teachers - $4,400
* Social Skills Teachers - $3,400
* Resource Room Teachers - $2,000
* Social Workers - $4,450

* Utilize best practices for motivating today’s students in a safe, supportive learning environment.
* Demonstrate knowledge in the development of real-world learning experiences and community partnerships to provide students with opportunities for extensions of learning, applied learning, community service, and citizenship.
* Demonstrate a willingness and ability to collaborate, engage, and communicate with colleagues, parents and the public.
* Instill problem‑solving and critical thinking as a “new basics” for learning across all grade levels.
* Deliver strong literacy instruction across content areas.
* Help students develop skills to apply, interpret, analyze, and evaluate the vast, ever‑expanding amount of information.
* Employ effective lesson design by adjusting to students’ personal learning needs and preferences, including appropriate technology applications.
