The Major Events and Festivals team plan and deliver events such as the Rhubarb Festival, Pontefract Liquorice Festival and Light Up. The programme provides a range of benefits including supporting the local economy through attracting visitor spend (calculated around £5m), and developing residents’ sense of place, health and wellbeing.
We are looking for an organised, pro-active and enthusiastic individual to join us for a maternity cover and help us shape our festivals’ programme for /.
What you will do:
1. The overall responsibility of the post is to plan and deliver the Major Events Programme, proactively contributing ideas in order to continuously improve and adding value to our festivals.
2. Sourcing contractors and entertainers, ensuring the correct arrangements and documentation are in place.
3. Submitting relevant applications for, Safety Advisory Group, temporary road closures and legal notices within the relevant timescales and ensuring that relevant feedback, advice or restrictions are implemented.
4. Working with marketing colleagues to develop an effective marketing and communications plan for the Major Events and Speciality Markets programme.
5. Managing the events onsite, ensuring the health and safety of attendees and visitors.
