Location: Cunard Building, Water Street, Pier Head, Liverpool, Merseyside, L2 2BS Hours: 35 hours per week Start Date: 23 February 2026 End Date: ongoing Pay Rates: PAYE: £245.00 per day Umbrella/Ltd: £330.77 per day About the Client Liverpool City Council’s Adult Social Care & Health Directorate delivers statutory assessment, safeguarding, support planning and care delivery functions across the city. The service is committed to promoting wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes for adults with care and support needs, working collaboratively with health partners, carers, advocates and community organisations. The Role The Experienced Adult Social Worker will contribute to the effective delivery of Adult Social Care services, undertaking complex assessments, support planning, safeguarding enquiries and case management. The postholder will manage a varied caseload, apply relevant legislation, prepare high‑quality reports and work within an integrated multi‑agency environment to ensure safe, person‑centred outcomes. This is a hybrid role requiring 3 days office‑based and 2 days remote working. Key Responsibilities Hold and manage a complex caseload with appropriate supervision and professional autonomy Undertake assessments, support plans and reviews in line with the Care Act 2014 and associated legislation Prepare written reports, statements and applications for Court of Protection and other legal processes Lead safeguarding enquiries, ensuring timely completion and accurate recording Apply professional judgement, critical analysis and evidence‑based tools to manage risk Undertake direct work with adults, carers and families in line with safeguarding procedures Work collaboratively with health partners, allied health professionals and multi‑agency forums Complete capacity assessments and best‑interest decisions Ensure services are delivered within available financial resources and demonstrate value for money Maintain accurate, timely case records using Liquid Logic and other systems Participate in duty systems as required Support Social Care Assessors and contribute to integrated working models Engage in supervision, reflective practice and continuous professional development Promote equality, diversity and non‑discriminatory practice in all aspects of work Candidate Requirements Essential: Qualified Social Worker (DipSW, BA, MA or equivalent) Social Work England registration Applied knowledge of Community Care legislation including Care Act 2014, MCA 2005 and MHA 1983 Experience completing assessments, support plans and reviews Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage fluctuating caseloads Ability to work effectively with adults, carers, advocates and multi‑agency partners Skilled in written and verbal communication, including report writing Ability to recognise and promote safety, wellbeing and resilience Commitment to professional standards, CPD and reflective practice Desirable: Experience working with diverse communities Knowledge of the Assessment Framework and relevant tools Experience applying financial considerations to casework Full UK driving licence and ability to travel as required
