As a key member of the Higher Education team the HE outreach coordinator will play a vital part in implementing the Access element of the Access and Participation plan. This role requires a dedicated member of staff to liaise with schools, external stakeholders and academic staff to create a developed series of interventions which can demonstrably be shown to encourage aspiration towards higher education and increase the attainment of those students involved. This role will be a key part of ensuring that the targets outlined in the Access and Participation Plan are met. The Access and Participation targets are divided between Access, Success and Progression with projects undertaken in each area focused on specific targets. The APP projects are approved, overseen and managed by the Widening Participation Officer with different members of staff engaged in undertaking the projects directly. All projects are data driven and underpinned by the OfS equality of opportunity risk register. The role is crucial to supporting the Faculty of Higher Education to deliver its widening participation agenda and realise its commitment to increasing the proportion of students from under-represented groups admitted to and successfully completing their studies, closing any relative gaps between students with different characteristics across the entirety of the student-life-cycle.
