JOB TITLE:
Marine Engineering Superintendent

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Role Overview:
We are currently recruiting for a Marine Engineering Superintendent to join a busy Marine Engineering department based in Middlesbrough. This key role will focus on overseeing the maintenance, repairs, and performance of marine vessels, with a particular emphasis on electrical and electronic systems. The successful candidate will lead fault diagnostics, manage dry-docking and refits, and ensure full compliance with maritime safety, class, and statutory regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee maintenance, repairs, and performance of marine vessels, focusing on electrical/electronic systems
* Manage dry-docking, refits, and upgrades to ensure vessel reliability and efficiency
* Lead fault diagnostics and troubleshooting across all electrical systems onboard
* Ensure full compliance with maritime safety, class, and statutory regulations
* Support planned maintenance systems and drive continuous technical improvement
* Collaborate with crew, contractors, and internal teams to minimise downtime and maintain operational readiness
* Act as subject matter expert for electrical systems during audits, inspections, and surveys
Required Skills & Experience:
* Chief Engineer's Certificate of Competency (Class 1) or equivalent marine engineering qualification
* Strong electrical background – ETO experience highly desirable
* Solid experience in vessel maintenance and repair (dredging/survey vessel exposure beneficial)
* In-depth understanding of compliance requirements in a marine setting
* Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills
* Effective communication and collaboration abilities
