We’re looking for a talented, collaborative, curious, and insightful Senior Associate Supervisor to join the Fixed Trading Venues team in the Infrastructure & Exchanges Department on a permanent basis.
The team plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity, fairness, and resilience of UK financial markets by supervising the major Recognised Investment Exchanges (RIEs), which act as key parts of the UK’s financial ecosystem. These cover a range of traded products such as equities, derivatives, and commodities and include the London Stock Exchange, ICE Futures Europe, and London Metal Exchange. All are vital for the UK and global economy.
The team works alongside and collaborates with the Flexible Trading Venues team, which supervises other RIEs and Recognised Overseas Investment Exchanges (ROIEs), and authorises and supervises Multilateral Trading Facilities (MTFs), and Organised Trading Facilities (OTFs).
We use a broad toolkit—from direct firm engagement to market-wide thematic work—to promote integrity and trust in wholesale markets. Your role will contribute to delivering the FCA strategy, and help to advance market integrity, fair and orderly trading, and resilient markets.
What will you be doing?
1. Be exposed to direct engagement with the London Metal Exchange (LME) to improve our understanding of firm specific issues and the markets they operate within
2. Apply regulatory and/or industry knowledge and experience to review complex information, make informed supervisory judgements and recommendations on appropriate action to address specific firm or cross-firm issues
3. Identify and review the key risks to help set and implementing the team's supervisory strategy to mitigate these risks
4. Work with various teams to develop a consistent FCA response to issues identified
5. Draft high-quality communications to deliver key messages internally to stakeholders, as well as externally to the LME as needed
6. Build, maintain and leverage relationships with key stakeholders to influence and deliver through others in and outside of the department as needed
What will you get from the role?
7. Play an important role in shaping and influencing the future of wholesale markets and Trading Venues during a time of significant regulatory evolution, and in a highly dynamic external environment
8. Gain in-depth and cutting-edge exposure and insight to how the LME and other trading venues operate, enhancing your understanding of market infrastructure and its regulatory landscape
9. Satisfying, worthwhile and responsible work with the opportunity to use and develop your skills in complex situations
10. A challenging, interesting and varied portfolio of work, working with colleagues from across the department and other parts of the FCA
11. Work in a supportive, learning-focused environment that values collaboration, inclusion, and professional growth
12. Engage with key issues at the heart of UK financial markets, making a visible and valuable difference
