Salary: £50,000 - 90,000 per year Requirements: Bachelors or Masters degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related STEM discipline Hands-on experience with market and fundamentals data used in pre-deal analytics, such as financial curve data, continuous contracts, and physical/derivative instruments Understanding of trading instruments (Futures, Swaps, Options, Forwards, Physical contracts) and their commercial purpose Familiarity with energy trading markets across commodities: oil, refined products, gas, power, and low carbon energy Exposure to Price Reporting Agency (PRA) methodologies, benchmarks, and pricing mechanisms Awareness of the end-to-end trading lifecycle and key risk and control concepts (VaR, P&L, exposure, mark-to-market) Strong proficiency in Python, especially Pandas for data preparation and analysis Solid SQL skills (Databricks SQL advantageous) for manipulating structured datasets Understanding of data modelling, including ERDs, object models, lifecycle concepts, and relational modelling Experience using data APIs, Python libraries, and handling timeseries datasets Experience creating or supporting Power BI dashboards and working within structured Power BI development lifecycles Familiarity with Dataiku, including building workflows with visual and code recipes, using automation nodes, and (optionally) basic ML features Ability to produce clear, useful technical documentation for self-service communities Highly accountable, self-motivated, and comfortable navigating ambiguity in a fast-moving environment Strong customer service attitude and ability to work effectively with global teams across cultures Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage changing priorities and technical complexity Knowledge of agile practices, configuration management, security standards, release processes, documentation practices, and quality principles Responsibilities: Deliver data access and analytics capabilities through the Analytics Data Workbench (ADW) Collaborate with traders, analysts, data scientists, engineers, and product teams to understand business workflows Simplify complex data processes and guide the design of scalable data solutions Represent ADW to users and leadership, ensuring products deliver clear value and align with bps broader digital strategy Conduct in-depth research on customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape to inform product strategy Build strong relationships with users across trading, analytics, and risk to ensure practical, valuable solutions Shape customer-centric product visions, balancing commercial objectives, regulatory considerations, and user impact Partner with DevOps and engineering teams to prioritize and deliver outcomes that maximize business value Translate complex data workflows into simplified, scalable solutions for analytics and pre-deal decision-making Influence target-state architecture, contributing to secure, resilient designs that scale across bps trading ecosystem Support key technology decisions focusing on reusability, enterprise scalability, and long-term sustainability Drive planning, delivery, and continuous improvement within cross-functional engineering squads Mentor teams in agile ways of working, promoting transparency, iteration, and user-first thinking Facilitate reflection and improvement sessions to strengthen collaboration and team efficiency Communicate product strategy, trade-offs, and technical decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences Technologies: Databricks DevOps Support Power BI Python SQL Security pandas More: At bp, we are dedicated to transforming digital capabilities across our Trading & Shipping organization, enabling smarter decisions and more sustainable outcomes.
